Somersworth Hotel closes.
Nothing epitomizes the decrepit nature of downtown Somersworth quite like the Somersworth Hotel. Now, it's closed. Should I feel bad for the people who were displaced? Probably. I'm surprised the city didn't offer to put them all up in a hotel. Isn't that what government is supposed to do? Take away your home and then support you?
I think the landlord purposely ignored the violations, so that the city would do the messy job of evicting people. Then he is free "to do a partial conversion from the building's current setup as a boarding house to more of a studio apartment design."
Yeesh, good luck with that plan. It's not Dover, nobody worth renting to wants to live in that area of Somersworth.

Well, it could be worse...
I mean, if your home is taken away from you by...say a storm that you knew was coming but couldn't stop...shouldn't you try to rebuild, or relocate? There are several people waiting for the government to send a group of people down to rebuild their houses for them.
Hey...they chose to live there.
--Talking about New Orleans by the way...
exactly ... they chose to live there. WE shouldn't have to foot the bill to rebuild when the inevitable happens!
or if we (the federal gov) has to...then pay for our HEATING OIL!
dude, awesome idea!
i don't miss ponying up big wads of cash every month for heating oil at all...
