On Friday, (8/30), Jammin and I went deep sea fishing. Bluefishing to be more precise. We brought 8 into the boat on a half day trip.
I say we brought 8 in - Jammin's first one was on the line and at the surface. The crew kid (yeah, a kid) who came with the gaff spent over a minute trying to hook the fish and get it in, only to yank the hook free from the fish. If you've never had a bluefish on the line, it's quite an experience. And they have teeth, too! Not as vicious as a wolfish, but nothing you want to get fingers close to. I caught two around 7 and a half pounds. The rest were 5 - 6 pounds each.
And yes, those fish are feeding families, and you'll also notice that there is no plastic wrap on those...

PS - I had an alterior motive for making this post as well. We had the least amount of posts this year until this one (I like that feature, despite still not having our "Read more" feature - c'mon you techies - you should have that one figured out by now...), which is pretty sad considering this blog was created at the END of 2004. Only a few months left, people. We know you're being voyeurs. We know you're there. Step into the light. Comment. We'll be with you every step of the way.
Then Jammin will push you while I'm on my hands and knees behind you. On purpose, too. And everyone will laugh. Maniacly, too! BWAH HA HA HA!!! Then we'll say, "Just Kiddin'!" and help you up. Then people will jump out from all over and yell "Happy Birthday!". Then a stripper will jump out from a cake. Only it turns out to be the old guy from the Six Flags commercials. Then Mr. J. will show up and shut the party down, and we'll be in the principal's office. Then we'll get a lecture. Then we'll move on, and years later recall the whole thing. And it's then that you'll realize - "I should have said something!!!" Think about it. And post...
?
WOW!....uhhhh, too much inhalation of some sort of unidentified fungus growing on that last carpentry project??!!? maybe to much licking of the lead painted woodwork when you were little, or maybe your father shouldnt have tried breastfeeding you when you were 5??!!! I dont know...but that was just .... I agree with gagknee...DBAGEEK what do u think?
Oh Graybeard, It's time for your mmmeds....I mean tea ;) hehehe
from NurseC :)
Nice freakin bloody fish! I was eating my PB and J for supper and then saw that picture. Sorry I havent popped in for a while. I got lost on the old blog.
And I'm supposed to be the confusing one? First "pourpah". Then Jammin makes me toss cookies with the breastfeeding comment. That turned my stomach faster than vinegar does milk. Hang on - I think I'm gonna be sick again...
Then, it looks like NurseC has sipping her own special "Sleepytime" tea. And now Paqguy??? I'm still getting used to "Dbageek", and now Paq reappears. What's going on around here? I was hoping my ramblings would stir things up, but maybe I stirred too much.
Anyway, back to the Six Flag boogaloo guy...
bluefish are good eatin'
I've never fished for Blues before this year, Gags, but it was a great experience. I have four in the freezer now - 2 from me and 2 from my son. Those 8 went home with Jammin, and it was such a great day - one I won't forget. I went out on a total of 4 deep-sea trips this year - the first produced a VERY small Cusk, the second (an all-day with Jammin and my youngest) yielded two larger Cusks, the third, my middle and I brought into the boat 4 Blues a piece, plus 2 dogs a piece (Dogfish - also known as sandsharks - loathed by salties, but protected now by Feds), and then the 8 Blues brought into the boat on the final trip. In the rest of my entire life, I've only been deep-sea fishing 3 times. It was a memorable year.
