I'm collecting all the URL's for everyone's blog (more to come on this later), and I was going down the list and I began to wonder how everyone came up with their user name. Some, I already know (paqguy), some are from high school, but I'm not sure how they came up it either (Jammin), and still others I'm just don't have a clue (skidonzi? chrispath1?)
So, help to clear up the confusion, and tell us (Graybeard) how you came up with your user name.

Where's your user name from?

Well, one morning I got up and notice that I had a foot missing. So I ran down the street to catch the bus, when out of the woods came a polar bear on a pontoon. He was going so fast that before I knew it he had whisked me up and thrown me in the back before I could swallow the Cracker Jacks. What the heck was going on? It was a long trip, but we finally stopped in Michigan, where he sold me to a gorilla as a plant stand. But I wasn't having that, so I bolted out the door, jumped into an elevator, and went to Canada. I started digging once I got there, and found two quarters and a Yen, and was able to buy a watermelon Blo-pop. After that I took a nap under a pile of used tires, and woke up in Bermuda. I never did find that foot.......
Oh, sorry, to answer your questions, it's only because I have gray hairs in my beard, and many more on my head. I came up with it as I was signing up for Blogger, and it stuck. That's all there is to it!
Now, where was I.......
Suzie, I can relate completely. We lived in Texas for two years, and after that time to Southerners I still had a Yankee accent, and to Yankees I had a southern accent. And it's true what you said about the Civil War and Mason-Dixon line, especially with my friends down in Texas. I would warn you however, be careful about mentioning that around Alan. He's the same way and gets upset if you say anything derogatory about the south, especially Texas, so you and I might be in some trouble here. Expect a Confederate soldier at your door sometime soon, I think, sent by Alan. I'm sure mine is on the way.
Well, I hadn't used my high school nick name for a long time...I had vanity plates on my truck (related to hunting) and this guy i know ( kinda like single white female, the movie) copied what i had as close as he could. Ticked me off a little. So rather than toss his body in the local bog, I decided to change my plates to "Jammin". Works well. No copies out there. So when we started blogging what other choice did I have? Alan, it started way back from my name. The sequence was as such: Ben > Benjamin > BenJammin > "JAMMIN" . It's stuck ever since and even works in real estate biz. Quick nick names and something clients and customers don't forget. Like my catch phrase that I've been told to put on my business cards, "...Where have you been, Ben?"
I don't have any great and wonderful fairy tale story to give you like others we know around here.....anyway I think my speaks for itself
donna's is sort of waterskiing related ... there is a boat called Donzi that we have always loved! If you've ever seen one you know why ... it's the Porche of boats. Anyway, so there you have it, skidonzi.
alan already knows, but i'll enlighten the rest of you. it's very geeky ... i LOVE technology. Can't get enough of it. Pocket PCs (microsoft's version of the lowly palm) have been a pretty big "hobbie" of mine for years. I write software and hardware reviews for a couple of the pocket pc enthusiast sites. My first pocket pc was a compaq ipaq. SO, i chose paqguy as my screen name about 6 years ago. I used to use ih20ski - you science folk will figure that out to mean i waterski.
That's really weird, Shaun, cause I was thinking just a little bit ago about your screen name and how Alan said he knew what it was, and I was thinking I should ask what it meant, cause I figured some of us didn't know, and there it was when I got back. Are we all psychic or something like that? Weird. Too many connected things since we've all been on here to just be chance. Anyway, thanks!
And hey, Alan. You didn't tell us where your screen name came from. Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!!
Well, as to TechnoAg. About 5 or 6 years ago, I started to play a game (Quake for those interested) on the internet within a large community of other gamers. Well, you had to have user name, and Alan just wasn't cutting it. So I set out to come up with something that represented me.
First, I share Shaun's passion for technology (btw, Shaun, when you gonna get rid of that outdated pda and get a smartphone? It's all about convergence! ;) ). I wear the geek title with pride!
The other characteristic that really defines me is where I went to college - Texas A&M. It's is a very special place, and all Aggies feel a strong connection to it and to each other. Being an Aggie is being part of a subculture that spans generations. It's school with a long history of rich traditions, so I can talk to a 70 year old Aggie, and still have a lot in common.
So, after some fine tuning, I came up with TechnoAg. I liked it so much that registered the domain and use it for my e-mail address and web pages. And maybe, someday, I'll use it for the name of my company. How does TechnoAg Inc. sound?
Hey, Jill! Come back! You can hang around! We don't bite, except for Ben, but I think Beka has a muzzle for him, so it all ok. But it's always great to see someone new in here! Welcome!
Sorry, I accidentally deleted my last entry :) I wondered what would happen if I clicked on that little trash can. Now I know :)
Well, I guess I should add mine too! Soccerkcs stands for my love of soccer and KCS is for Keswick Christian School in St. Petersburg, FLorida. I taught at Keswick for three years so I'm keeping the memory alive. . . .Rick
