FISC Carnage

I spent a good portion of my weekend helping out the company I used to work for ... FISC. Thursday afternoon they had a fire breakout in the micro fiche room, which unfortunately is located right next to the server room. These are just a few photos of the server room after the carnage was over.

It will likely be the end of the week before they are fully operational again. For those of you who don't know, FISC provides financial services to most of the banks in Maine. Check processing, EFT, loan servicing, remittance and bill processing, and many other relatively critical operations. So, as you can imagine, the impact for the banking industry in Maine is pretty significant. These are the days you find out why you spend so much money on backup equipment.

I know that's all boring, but it was quite a weekend seeing the place you helped build go up in smoke. Anyhow, I will likely not be posting as often this week as I will be working there during my most of my spare time this week. I'm also trying to get ready for my trip as I'm leaving next Sunday.

Sounds like you're in for a long week. Take care and good luck to you. Have a safe trip on sunday to (tampa?). By the way, thanks for the pic. Sometimes I think of burning or blowing up my computer. Now I know just what it will look like. Be safe.

I agree with Ben about the burnt computer picture. I might print it out so that if anything even THINKS of crashing on my PC I'll have something to threaten it with. On a serious note, fire damage is never fun, and it's a lot of hard work to replace and repair what was done. I've had several opportunities to work on fire damage, so I can sympathize with you, Shaun. Good luck with FISC, and don't burn yourself out (no pun intended) with your busy schedule. Safe trip as well, and thanks for getting the album up for me as well! What are we gonna do without our techie?!?
