I would've posted this on your blog, Ben, but there was no comment tab on your response....
I saw the commenets from "Anonymous" last night just before I went to bed. Obviously it's no one one we know, I'm assuming. Five stars, however, on your response! I agree with you fully. If you don't take the time at least to try to learn about something or someone, then don't go around spouting off at the mouth.
I'll admit, I've never been hunting. Is it because I'm against it? No. Not at all. I realize it's a part of life, and if it weren't for the convenience of pre-packaged, pre-prepped meat, I know I would be out there. I've eaten venison before, and have enjoyed it. I've just never been. My dad stopped hunting long before I was old enough, and never taught me. He's always talked about it, and still has his hunting rifles, but he never took me. Dennis (my mentor) used to hunt. He hasn't in many years. I've seen his gun cabinet and he talks alot about hunting. My grandfather did. Before my time, and he is since gone.
I'm not sure if I could do it. I know I would like the thrill of tracking, of "man against nature". But could I pull the trigger or release the arrow? I'm not sure. I haven't been in the situation, so I can't say. But I respect what you do. I can understand it. I have kept up with bear-baiting issues in Maine, and have heard both sides of that argument. I always have asked questions of hunters, so that I'm not too ignorant on the subject.
Anyway, just had to throw in my two cents, for what that's worth. (two cents) Perhaps some day I might get to go out with you. It would be a good thing to learn, even if I didn't shoot anything.

PS Ben, you may want to insert those "read more" things. Just a thought, but it does make the blogs look "neater".
